Okay, so you already know that I’m madly in love with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts so it shouldn’t be a surprise that I make a point to check out their hotels in every city I visit. Maybe it’s because I’m patriotic (they’re a Canadian-based luxury chain) or maybe it’s because they deliver impeccable service – whatever the reason, I’m hooked! On my most recent trip to England, I headed to Four Seasons Hotel London At Park Lane to sip a few cocktails on their beautiful terrace.
Nestled between two Royal Parks (Hyde Park and Green Park), the beautifully-landscaped private garden at Amaranto offers guests a tranquil and luxe escape in the heart of Mayfair. Overlooking Park Lane, the split level terrace is a dreamy spot to meet up with friends for drinks…
Deciding on a bevvie was a bit of a challenge because they all sounded incredible. From wine and signature cocktails to champagne and a solid single malt whisky list, there’s something for all palates (and budgets: £10 – £1750). But one drink immediately caught my eye; Aladdin’s Tea Pot. With thoughts of genie still on my mind (my fave Disney character of all time), I thought it would be a great way to kick off the night. I was right: the specialty cocktail was whimsical and delish. I pretty much love anything with Cointreau and lavender so I was a huge fan. The fresh raspberry, strawberry and lime juice were a nice touch. Oh and it had a splash of Jasmine tea – can’t leave out the princess!
My friend opted for the Smoky Negroni. Made with Laphroaig 18yrs and served with a jug of chilled lapsang souchong tea, it was definitely a unique style of Negroni. As we both waited for the white mist (liquid nitrogen) to evaporate from our drinks, we nibbled on some bar tapas (they’ve got everything from humus to Beluga Caviar).
Before moving on to more cocktails, we were escorted to the rooftop lounge so we could take in the spectacular view…
When we returned to the terrace, I asked the bartender to recommend a cocktail for me. He suggested their Basil and Elderflower Smash. Served long over crushed ice, the drink was smooth and delicate. I love gin-based cocktails and thought the lavender bitters, fresh lemon juice and fresh basil really brightened up the spirit. It was the perfect summer cocktail; light, refreshing and dangerously drinkable!
Although we visited Amaranto on a beautiful day, it did get quite chilly after the sun set. Thankfully we were promptly offered blankets (pictured in the first photo) to keep us warm. The Four Seasons always knows how to take care of guests: they truly never cease to amaze me! In the absence of blankets, we would’ve gladly moved inside to their alluring bar. With red velvet chairs and Elizabethan portraits on the walls, it had a distinctly British feel…
Overall, we had a lovely night at FS London at Park Lane. The service was spot on, the terrace was a beautiful oasis and the cocktails were unique, playful and well-balanced. I highly recommend heading there for a drink or two the next time you’re in the area. Cheers!
Special thanks to Four Seasons Hotel London At Park Lane for hosting us. As always, all reviews and opinions are entirely my own.
