Winterlicious at Café Boulud

January 29, 2015

Around this time every year, I get an onslaught of emails and texts asking one question: where should I eat during Winterlicious? You see, with over 200 of Toronto’s top restaurants offering three-course prix fixe menus for incredible prices (Lunch: $18|$23|$28 and Dinner$25|$35|$45), deciding where to share a meal with friends or family can be a bit daunting. One restaurant that always makes my list is Café Boulud. Not only is it located inside my favourite Toronto hotel (more about that here), but the service is exceptional, the space is beautiful and – most importantly – the food is consistently spot-on. The dishes are refined, have complex flavour profiles and are beautifully presented. Here’s a sneak peek of some of the mouthwatering cuisine they’ll be serving up during Winterlicious…

Digby Scallops – hazelnut crust, celeriac gremolata, brown butter

Guinea Fowl Terrine – preserved laroda plum, country bread

Pink Salmon – smoked spelt, brussels sprouts, mushroom broth

Beef “Pot Au Feu” – bone marrow, carrot, turnip, potato

Pear Chocolate Gateau – chocolate mousse, poached pear, hazelnut gelato

Tropical Fruit Sundae – coconut ice cream, roasted pineapple, passion fruit coulis

Art on a plate – right?! Lucky for us, the food is as good (or even better) than it looks. So if you’re scouring the web searching for a new restaurant to try out (or if you’re like me and want to revisit your faves while giving your wallet a little break), I highly recommend heading to Café Boulud this Winterlicious. The culinary celebration runs from January 30th to February 12th so make sure you book a reservation ASAP!

Oh, and here’s a sneak peek of what they have brewing for Valentine’s Day weekend. This beaut dish will be one of the drool-worthy items on their four course prix fixe menu ($95):

Celeriac Agnolotti – glazed chestnuts, mimolette, truffle

A special thanks to Café Boulud for inviting us to their media preview. As always, all reviews and opinions are entirely our own.
