Busy. That’s the #1 response I get when I ask my friends and fam how they’re doing. And it’s true, we’re all trying to juggle so many things these days (is it me or does this crazy life pass by faster and faster as we age?!) With the rapido pace comes a big challenge for many of us: balance, something I’ve personally struggled with and have to consciously re-enforce every day. Alas, there’s always a thing or two that slips onto the back burner — for me, it’s healthy eating (cuz who has time to buy, wash and cut all those veggies with everything else going on?!) And although I LOVE cooking, there are some pockets throughout life when it’s just not feasible — during exams at university, when dealing with overlapping deadlines at work and currently: raising a newborn. For these chaotic times, I’m a firm believer that we all need to ask for help (via family and friends or innovative services in the community) to alleviate pressure and make our lives a bit easier… Since meal prep/cooking swallows up such a huge chunk of time, this is an area I’ve personally been excited to get assistance with as we welcome Little L into the world. That’s where Eat Train Live comes in. Cue the angel music…
The Toronto-based gourmet meal delivery service has honestly been a lifesaver. Not only do we get delish meals brought to our door bi-weekly, but they are HEALTHY. Yup, the professional chef and sports nutritionist on the Eat Train Live team make sure entrées are under 500 calories and have 30 grams of protein along with 30 grams of healthy carbs. Woot! Super important for this breastfeeding mama to squeeze in all the nutrients. But you guys know me: I wouldn’t last more than a day on the Enthusiast plan if the food was bland, boring or tasteless. Thankfully, Hubster and I have been blown away by the flavour profiles and variety of meals that are being sent our way…
These guys really know how to prepare vegetables and proteins. The veggies are NEVER overcooked and the protein is ALWAYS juicy — I’m not exactly sure how they accomplish this culinary magic, but they do! Their fish creations are my absolute fave…
Oh, and a healthy burger and fries?! Sign me up. This meal was a big hit in our house (we added the bun, because I def can’t devour a burger bun-less)…
The dishes are so colourful and beautifully-prepared that we even served them to some of our guests (cuz who has time to cook for dinner parties with a newborn?!) Everyone has been super impressed so far. I mean, when has meal delivery looked THIS good?!
To top things off, the chef uses produce from local, non-factory farms, beef that is ethically pasture-raised and poultry that is antibiotic and hormone-free. Woot!
Another thing I love? The Eat Train Live delivery service isn’t outsourced: the incredible founder, Lonie Murdock, drops off the meals at my condo twice a week. How amazing is that?! Talk about devotion to customer service. Not sure how she finds time to do it all (she’s also a home chef, personal trainer, sports nutritionist and mom), but it makes such a difference from the consumer end — it allowed me to see how passionate she really is about healthy living.
