One word: brunch. Need I say more? After a long work week and a few well-deserved Friday night drinks what I really look forward to on the weekend is some top-notch brunching. Living in Toronto makes it nearly impossible to decide where to go because there are too many delicious options… Wait, did I say too many? That can never be the case because, in my opinion, the more the better! So when I found out Taste Toronto was hosting its FIRST EVER Bud Light Radler Brunch Fest, I just had to run over — fork in hand…

I mean, a festival of brunch?!? Could there be a more heavenly event? I think not. The goal of the fest was simple: to round up an all-star roster of iconic brunch spots in Toronto to celebrate our fave weekend ritual. And that they did. From Lisa Marie and Starving Artist to Heirloom Food Truck and The Good Son, everyone served up mouthwatering dishes. I’m talking benedicts, pancakes, bagels…all the good stuff!

How did it work? Well there were four entry times for each day of the brunch-filled weekend (tickets were required to enter the festival grounds: $4.95 for a timed entry of approx 1 hr). Then, when we got in, each vendor had a bunch of tasty dishes for purchase (prices ranged from $4-$8). Here were some of my fave eats from the weekend:

Duck Confit Hash “Poutine” – Heirloom – Pulled duck, home fries, local cheese curds, chipotle aioli & fried egg.

Fully Loaded Waffle – Starving Artist – Potato waffle, cheddar cheese, caramelized bacon, sour cream & chives.

Tandoori Fried Chicken & Chickpea Waffle – Lisa Marie – Tandoori fried chicken, chickpea waffle and chutney syrup. Photo c/o Brunch Fest.

Open Faced Lox and Bagel – Busters Sea Cove – Half bagel, cream cheese, smoked salmon, fried capers & onion. Photo c/o Brunch Fest.

And last, but not least, my new summer drink: Bud Light Radler…

The atmosphere at the fest was super fun: Dwayne Gretzy provided live entertainment and had the crowd dancing off the calories almost as fast as they were being consumed. Almost.

There were plenty of spots to either relax with friends or get a bit competitive with some giant-sized board games…

But the food was the highlight and with 15 vendors on site, my friend and I were kept busy with our gluttonous mission. We proudly walked out of Brunch Fest with a very happy food baby and can’t wait to see what Taste Toronto has in store for next year!
